Pushcart Nominee

I learned yesterday that "Looper," my story from the Winter 2013 issue of Jabberwock Review, was nominated for a Pushcart Prize. The Pushcart Prize is an annual award for short stories, poetry and essays published in small presses during a given year. Each lit mag can nominate up to six works for consideration. So while it's not that uncommon for a writer to get a nomination, it's still nice to have on one's resume. A shortlist or a win, though.... 

Regardless, the annual Pushcart Prize anthology is always one of my favorite books of the year. I think there's more variety in its selections than you'd find in the Best American Short Stories series. It actually chooses stories from publications other than the New Yorker, and gives you a sampling of the best of the lit mags.
